I keep getting emails saying Many files have been deleted

I have two DB, one personal and one business and pay for the larger size.  One of my DB has a shared folder in it so I know I'm not the only person adding or subtracting files.  The problem is I get email notices that 1800, 2000, 3000 items have been deleted and I hve 30 days to get them back.  In some cases I know it's because I've been cleaning up files but in some cases I can't tell whether it's something I moved and meant to or that someone else in the shared file did.  And the other person in the shared file gets mad at me if I remove things from it so I try not.  I'd like to have a better sense of what has been deleted from the DB so I can figure out to restore them or not == and is it possible to restore to a separate folder or place so I can review before putting them back?  That would be the easiest thing for me.

Hi Victoria, if you’re moving files to or from a shared (or team) folder, then it would be classed as a deletion, and then an addition of files.

This is because the files are deleted from the private (or shared) folder, and then added to the other folder, so you’ll get that notification. If you’re moving within the same shared folder, or within private folders, then you won’t get that notification as it will just be a normal move.

It currently isn’t possible to restore files to a different location ,though I’ll forward this suggestion to our dev team for their consideration!

Hope this helps to clarify matters!

We have a dropbox buisness account and there is reporting functionality in the admin console that allows us to create reports for this type of activity. If I were wanting to see what file I recently deleted I would be able to run the report for a specified time frame and than compare the files in the report to the ones I know that I deleted. The emails that you receive would not nessesarily tell you whom moved or deleted files but the reports will. I hope you find this helpful and have an option to run these types of reports.
