I'm getting an error "Couldn't start Dropbox"

I'm getting an error "Couldn't start Dropbox"

VJ25

Hi,

I'm getting this error in my laptop :

''Couldn't start Dropbox. This is ussually because of a permissions error. Storing your home folder on a network share can also cause an error.

Please contact dropbox support with the following info for help: C:\USers\*****\AppData\Local\Temp\dropbox errorodeeuzj3.txt''

Can you help me with this ?

Regards,

VJ

Take a look here: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-files-folders/Couldn-t-Start-Dropbox-error/td-p/454110 It looks very similar.

Does it solve your issue?

Hi,

No, I unchecked the read-only and then try to open dropbox.. Still same message. Tried to re-do the steps and the read-only box remains checked as if I hadn’t done anything the first time. :confounded:

Hi @VJ25,

Try execute following in terminal:

icacls "C:\Users\vijay\Dropbox" /grant "%USERNAME%":(F) /T

Hope this helps.

Wow... Seems you have some flag set on file system level which prevent any change. You can try remove every "Deny" in your Dropbox folder properties and permissions which may prevent Dropbox application full access. Let's hope this will give some result because my ideas are over.

Good luck.

Can you guide me how to do this last thing ?

And thank you so much for help me with this!

Just select "Properties" from context menu on your Dropbox folder. In Properties window select Security tab. Should looks something like:

Exact look could vary. Pass through all groups and users from "Groups or user names" and for every one make sure there is not some permissions restriction (i.e. no "Deny" check mark or similar of any kind, including advanced).
