I'm getting an error when trying to upload a .apk file to filelinked, why is that?

When ever I upload a .apk file to dropbox and create a shared linked. And change the default 0 to a 1 I get an error saying.

Unfortunately the given URL could not be added. Only direct URLs to files are supported. CLICK HERE if you don't know what a direct link is or need help creating such.

Which isn't true as I have other .apk files on there and if I go to the direct link it works fine and I am able to to download it.

However when I use filelinked and trying to and a url I get that error.

Did dropbox block .apk files? Now if I zip the file and share it that way. It'll work fine.

Is there a fix for this or is this something that dropbox did to prevent sharing of .apk files?

All I know is I have about 10 .apk files on dropbox and those work fine.

Re: Dropbox and Filelinked

Dropboxer

Hey there @Zeroc00l, thanks for reaching out to us here!

This could be due to the way that package files are viewed in Dropbox, as they are shown as a folder rather than a file. You can see more info on this here.

This should explain the error that you're getting, as the error refers to a file while Dropbox sees this as a folder. You'll need to zip the file before uploading it to Dropbox.

Let me know if this helps!

Replace the "dl=1" to "raw=1"

Here is an example:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/a1b2c3d4ef5gh6/example.docx?dl=1

to

https://www.dropbox.com/s/a1b2c3d4ef5gh6/example.docx?raw=1

I hope that will solve your issue!
