I'm having an issue with re-importing photos as they've already been imported

Explorer | Level 4

Hello community,

I want to import a set of fotos for a second time (the first import I have deleted, because I wanted to make changes in the file names beforhand). Now dropbox denies the import, saying that all files already have been imported.  How do I make dropbox "forget" about the first import?

Thanks in advance!

Hubertus

Hi @hu-go, thanks for posting today!

As the Dropbox app knows which files were previously imported, it won't import them again to prevent duplicating files.

However, as you want to have them re-imported, I'd recommend writing to the support team directly for further assistance, since they can reset this so that the app will import all images again.

Bear in mind, as you're referring to using automatic camera uploads, the files will still be renamed according to their creation date. This means it won't keep the file names you've made, unless you manually add the files to your account, which would keep the original names..

Hope this helps to clarify matters!

Hi Jay,

thank you for your pithy message!

This morning I did exactly as you suggest: contact the support (via chat). They said exactly the same, that they could reset the camera-upload funktion, which will enable me to upload my previous foto set again. Thanks also for the info re: file names; that is not really a problem for me, actually I aimed exactly at the dropbox renaming function by creation date in the automatic upload. Now I am just waiting for the email notice that camera uploads are reset.

Thanks again, stay well & happy,

hu-go

Thanks for the update, @hu-go. I've made a note of the community conversation there so the team have more history of this. They'll be able to assist you from there on!
