I own 4 Pc and on all I share dropbox.
On 3 of them I have no problem, on the last many.
I use windows 10 last fix for 64 k computers, and I have Google Chrome as browser.
I have a 78 Gb Dropbox folder hare on any PC with many nested folders
If a select a folder like this
I can open some folders like these The first 2 folders
This folder on the original PC has a sharing onglet
But I cannot open others one like these the third folder
[screenshot removed due to personal info as per Community Guidelines]
This folder on the original PC has no sharing onglet
Operating system says:
Translation Input the user password for [email removed as per Community Guidelines] a non existent user (operating systema has
[email removed] (where it is for Italy).
I could suppose that OS tries an international user not a local one.
Moreover Dropbox is shared on a network folder x:
In addition, If I try to share the last folder with the name ..archi_mazzilli I get the message
Translation :It is impossible to share the folder
I could have created a mess, but I don’t know where and how. That is.
Hey there @roberto michele mazzilli, I hope you're well today!
So I can have a bit of a better understanding of what's occurring here, can you let me know what your desktop app's sync status is showing?
Also, just to clarify is that the error you're getting when trying to open those folders, to input the user password?
Finally, can you let me know how you're trying to share the folder? For example, are you trying to add a new member to the folder or share the subfolder.
Let me know - thanks!
I just click on the folder.
For some (and in my opinion old folders)it is ok : the folder is opened.
For some (and in my opinion newer folders)it is not ok : the folder is not opened. I receive a message where it is shown an another e-mail (user) not existant. I live in Italy and the most is ending with it. It not a rule, bud seldom happens.
Now [email removed].it is my user for all windows packages, The matter is that [email removed].com is a non existent user, but very close to the previous e-mail. I looks like a default versione for an american package. as in the past with kyboard.sys file in Ms dos.
If I try to share the main folder below dropbox ..archi_mazzilli I get an error message: sharing is not possible.
Before trying to kill my self I try to find a solution.
The serious problem is that I have no starting point to approach teh problem The moon, tha right arm, etc..
Help me, please.
Do not smile: this happens on only a computer, on the other 3 computer, all is working.
Thanks for the info @roberto michele mazzilli.
I'm afraid there isn't much more I can suggest here since this is an unsupported location for the Dropbox folder to be hosted. You can check out more info about this here.
Sorry that I can't be of much more help with this, but do let me know if you have any other questions. Others here might be able to make some suggestions for you too as your thread will remain open.
I hope you have a good day!
I dont' know if I am well, But I hope so.
Also, just to clarify is that the error you are getting when trying to open those folders, to input the user password?
The system , I think windows 10, is asking a password for a non esixent user . To clarify, Winwos 10 user is [email removed].it,
but the system asks me a password for the user
that doesn't exist at all.
I believe that the program has an internal hard coded extension to com, while it, is the extension for Italy is it.
Other confusion could be arisen by the Dropbox user name ; [email removed]
Is this .com the cause of my problems.
But I have other 3 PC worling well.
I could suppose that the problem could arise by old dopbox location on c: disck, while now is on D:.
Supositions, ideas, or I am getting crazy ??
I am not sure to feel well, may be not.
