What is www.dropbox.com/events showing?

If its over 30 days since they were deleted then I'm afraid they are permanently unrecoverable.

Hi Mark,
I am confused. Deleted by who? I did not delete anything. So I’ve had this account for years and haven’t used it in a very long time, i signed in yesterday and couldn’t find all my files. Is that the reason why dropbox deleted all my files? Because I haven’t used the account in a long time?? Please help!

Hey @Kenny , just jumping in here!

If your account was inactive for more than 12 months then it's possible that the account was deleted due to inactivity, as outlined here.

In this case, you would have received multiple email notifications from Dropbox about this.

Can you let me know if you have one of the "Getting started with Dropbox" files in your account? These are created upon account creation, so we can check the date for these files to see the account creation date.

Let me know what you find!

Thanks for getting back to me here @Kenny .

If that file has a recent date, and is the only file in your account then it looks like the account was indeed closed due to inactivity. In this case I'm afraid we wouldn't be able to assist you with restoring the files.

Sorry that I can't be of more help with this, but please do let me know if you have any other questions!

Hello @Daphne,
I want to thank you for your support thus far, I appreciate it.
So i checked the version of the “Getting started” file and it has a date above it ( 30 May 2014 ). Does this mean my files can still be retrieved? 🙏🏽

That's good to hear @Kenny !

I'd suggest checking out these steps here to see if you can restore any deleted files. Please bear in mind that you'll only be able to recover files that were deleted within the version history window of your account.

Another place you can check would be your Events page, which shows the activity in your account in the past 6 months or so.

If the files/folders happened to be shared, then you can also check in your Sharing tab here.

Let me know if this helps!
