I need to unsync my computer from Dropbox

New member | Level 2

I accidentally synced all the files from the family computer (everyone in my house uses it so many of the files are not mine) into my own Dropbox and it’s taking up all of my Dropbox storage. I need space in my Dropbox for my own files but I’m terrified that if I delete the files in my Dropbox the original files are also going to get deleted in the computer because they are synced. I can’t not let that happen because some are very important documents that are not mine. I need help please.

Hi @emiliabl2003; welcome to our Community and thanks for using Dropbox!

I'm not sure if that's the case, but could it be that you accidentally set up our new computer backup feature?

In that case, you could take a look at the relevant Help Center article for more information on how to disable it safely on your computer.

Keep me posted!
