I think that my LogicX files were corrupted after a failed upload to Dropbox.

I think that my LogicX files were corrupted after a failed upload to Dropbox.

New member | Level 2

I tried to Upload a large amount of LogicX Files to Dropbox recently..

I set up a file dump and left the computer running, uploading files, while i was away for the weekend.

When i returned and checked on the transfer the files had been corrupted and are seemingly unrecoverable.

I left the laptop plugged in and made sure to disable sleep mode.

Does anyone have any ideas of what may have happened, or how i might recover the files??

Hey @JppJ, let me trace back your description, in order to gain a better insight on what may have caused that.

It would be great if you could answer the following for me in as much detail as possible:

  • Could you let me know whether Dropbox was syncing correctly on the problematic device before the upload?
  • What makes you think that your files are corrupted?
  • Was it files or folders that you’re facing an issue opening?

Please let me know of your discoveries & I’ll do my best to further advise!

Hi Jane, Thanks for the quick reply..

Yes, dropbox was syncing properly before this transfer.

I know they're corrupted because i have consulted a data recovery specialist and they have told me so. The files cannot not be opened (the logic files), or be previewed (audio files).

Logic X files are, i suppose, both files and, folders that contain files. Neither of which will open. I just get this error message;

"The file “ProjectInformation.plist” couldn’t be opened."

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for circling back to me with this update @JppJ

I ran a search on my end for the error message & it looks like this pertains to the app you’re using rather than Dropbox. Have you been able to reference any other resources on that?

Please let me know whenever you have a minute. Thanks again!

Jane, Dropbox needs to stop blaming 3rd party apps. Please see my other threads. This is happening to all sorts of files being using by many different apps - Logic, Pro Tools, Word, Excel etc. You cannot tell me that all these apps are faulty. The only common denominator is Dropbox.

Dropbox needs to take this seriously!
