I thought I deleted files but won't let me in

I thought I deleted files but won't let me in

Explorer | Level 3

I'm a senior. I use dropbox to park photos I take of grandsons baseball games so parents can retrieve them. I'm pretty careful about deleting them after a month or so. This fall I thought I deleted everthing on dropbox and then added some baseball shots. Dropbox says I'm full and now won't let me in without an upgrade. Not paying for this as I only use it a couple time a year. I tried to contact them and ask why my files wern't deleted as I thought. Can't find a way to contact them? Great customer service, right? I've since gone over to Google to park files and this has worked great. Dropbox is going to alienate many customers much like a program called Photobucket did a few years ago and lost all their customers. Just saying..... maybe it's not worth waisting my time on but they sure do like to send me notices about my box being full. What a sh^/ show.

Hi @m5er, thanks for providing these details!

If the files are not being deleted via the Dropbox desktop application, could you try deleting them from the Dropbox site directly?

If you're having issues deleting files from either location, please could you let me know more about what your experiencing? Thanks!

Jay, thanks for getting back to me.

I went to dropbox on the web page to delete the files.

this is the way i usually do it as it always works.

I thought i had deleted them all but it would never say that i had.

I closed website and came back next day thinking it might take over night for this to happen.

Still showing files.

I gave up after this.

Now it won't let me in unless I upgrade to a paying account.

I don't use it enought for that.

I'm now using google drive and no problems with it.

It does take time for files to delete from the site, so you could try try deleting them in smaller batches. Even if the account is overquota, you can still view the files here and delete the ones you need to get underquota.

Ok, that got me in on second try.

There is only two photos there that are hosted by dropbox. Less than 2mb.

So don't understand why it says it's full.

Maybe now that I got in it will clear that constant message I get.

Thanks,

Gary
