I want dropbox to overwrite a file when it is copied into the same folder; not using the browser interface, I'm copying to a mapped dropbox drive.  Example; dropbox has file.csv in a folder - when I copy another file.csv into that folder, it gives me file.csv and file (1).csv - I want it to over write.  Any help would be greately appreciated.

If you're doing this in a folder on your computer, then it's your operating system that controls this behavior; not Dropbox. The local Dropbox folder on your computer is just a regular folder like any other.
