I want to share to allow others to add content but request a password to access it, any ideas?

Dear Moderator:

I want to create files on my Android.

Invite another individual, who does not want dropbox installed, to open the file, read the file, and add items.  The person is asked for password.  I do not know how to create a password, using Android.  I can create one using Windows.

Will you please assist me?

Hey there , apologies in advanced for the lengthy reply!

In terms of what you would like to achieve, for the recipient of the shared content to be able to add or edit items and allow collaboration between you, you’ll need to share the content via a shared folder. This method is needed so that you can allow edit access to the shared content.

In this case, the recipient will need to access their Dropbox account to open, view or edit the content. To do so they can a web browser to access their Dropbox account, since they don’t want to install the Dropbox app. Perhaps this could also act as your “password” as they will need to be signed into the specific Dropbox account you share with.

For adding a password to access the content, this currently can only be done through Dropbox with a shared link. However, a shared link only allows view access so they can open and read the files but they won’t be able to add or edit content.

I hope this clarifies the matter a little, if you have any other questions about a specific part then let me know and we can try work out the best process for you and your needs - Thanks!

PS. Just to note, I’ve moved your comment to another thread to keep things neat and tidy on our Community.
