Invited to be a member of a folder from a company group, my free limit is now 10Gb over limit.

I was invited to a shared folder from a company that has a 2Tb limit (I believe, at least its a lot), and now my dropbox is grossly oversized and it is forcing me to upgrade or I lose my own files. I'm using a free account to just hold things like college papers, resume's, etc. How do I fix this and save my dropbox while having access to a company's dropbox shared folder so I can do work with their files?

Hi @mikefollett; thanks for joining our Community!

As shared folders take up space towards each member's account -unless the members are all part of a team account- you can ask them to share a link to the folder instead.

This allows for view and download rights and if you need to upload back to their account, they can open a file request for you.

Both shared links and file requests won't impact your own quota so you won't necessarily need to upgrade your account to a larger plan.

I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any more questions, Mike.
