Greetings,
I'm desperate for a solution to this problem! In Octoer of 2019 I downloaded Dropbox onto a new laptop and noticed that my pictures were not uploading to the "Camera Uploads" file. So I deleted it, re-downloaded it, and the pictures on my phone downloaded to Dropbox.
Fast foward to April 2020, I realized that I deleted all of my photos from then until 2012! The main reason I have Dropbox is store my family photos- mainly my two daughters. So, all of their photos from ages 0-7 are gone. Dropbox specialists have said there is no way of recovering these photos as it has been past the 30 day recovery window. If I had known I deleted them, surely I would have recovered them immediately!
I've been a member for 8 years (roughly $10,000), and made 1 horrible mistake! Why don't they email me with a message that says "In 10 days this file will be PERMANENTLY DELETED"?
Is there any possible solution? The "Specialist" has already said they can't be recovered...

Hi @tanman, thanks for joining the Community.
I understand how you feel in relation to your missing files.
Unfortunately, as the specialist said, if it has been outside of 30 days since their deletion, then it wouldn’t be possible to recover those files from the Dropbox server, since they would have already been permanently deleted by now.
Generally, if there is a large deletion of files, an email would have been sent to your account. If you didn’t receive it in your inbox, then most likely it went to the spam folder.
We're sorry we can't be more helpful on this matter.

Jay,
Do you guys have a recommendation box? If so, please add this one: "A notification system that sends users an email that their deleted items will be PERMANTLY deleted within 10, 5, or maybe even 1 day. They will NO LONGER be recoverable".
I made a terrible mistake and I'm sure this has and will continue to happen to others. Unfortunately, this will be the end of my Dropbox subscription.
Thank you for your time- I do appreciate it.
If you wish, you can suggest this change for others to vote on, so the dev team can look into this in future!
