Is it secure to share a password via a notepad file in a shared dropbox folder?

If someone wants to send me a password, instead of using email, would it be more secure to put it in a notepad document in a folder that we both share on dropbox?

We want to both have this password so sending it and then having me change it is not an option.

Any other simple ways?

The file would be as secure as a normal file on both your computers would be. If anyone else has access to the Dropbox folder on the machine, or via the site, then they could view that file.

Is the file going to be updated often with different passwords, or is this a one-time password which will remain the same?
