Hello! Is there a description field available for files and or folders? A field to contain a brief description about them?

@aviennas The Dropbox API and SDKs unfortunately don't currently offer the ability to set comments or folder overview descriptions, but I'll pass this along as a feature request. I can't promise if or when that might be implemented though.

Hi @aviennas; welcome to our Community!

So, for individual files you can use comments while for folders, you could add a text description (to-dos, @mentions etc.) and turn it into a Dropbox Space!

I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any more questions!

@Walter Hello! Thank you for following-up! Comments is an even more powerful feature compared to an imaginatory unstructured description field however is this collection exposed in Dropbox Java Core SDK? Greetings!

I think @Greg-DB will be able to assist further on this so I'll leave you to it.

Hello, @Greg-DB I've seen the correspondence but wanted to double check that it is still not implemented. Greetings! Thank you!

Comments also unfortunately require the commentor to sign up for a Dropbox account before they work.

Free or not doesn't matter; it's friction, which means comments will be reduced.
