Issues in synching shared folder

New member | Level 2
New member | Level 2

Hi,

I am sharing a folder with my friend, who's has a Basic free Dropbox account (data limit 2 GB)  is almost full.
I am the owner of these folder & has given edit access to my friend.
I have plenty of free space in my dropbox.
Still we are facing issues of synching this folder.

My question is, for shared folder the data is accounted to who'es account, -- owner or user? OR Both.
If the dropbox space for user is increased then will this solve this issue?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey there @atul5!

Thanks for asking this question here in Community.

A shared folder takes up space from all members accounts. So it takes up space from both of you in this case.

If the receiver does not have enough space his Dropbox will stop his syncing. Removing items to drop the storage used is a solution to sync again (steps).

You could help your friend by sharing a link to the file or folder instead. Shared links don't save the folder to the account of the receiver, they are only paths for the receiver to follow. Steps to share a link can be found here

Here is a discussion about free space if you are interested in forwarding it to your friend.  https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Files-folders/How-can-I-earn-some-free-space-on-my-Dropbox-account/m...
