Large File Download keeps Failing

I'm trying to download a shared file sized over 30GB. The download keeps failing. It reaches the end but says it failed and isn't the same file size.  I tried on different browser, incognito, no difference.

Hey @ab37, and welcome to our Community!

Right now, it's not possible to download folders that contain more than 10,000 files or are larger than 20 GB via the web interface.

Have you tried syncing the files to your computer using the Dropbox desktop application?

If you're trying to download from a shared link to a folder, you can click on the "Save to my Dropbox" option to add a copy of the files to your Dropbox account.

I hope this clarifies things! If you need anything else, give me a shout!

It's a file not a folder, does this make any difference?  I don't know how to sync the file link to my computer using the dropbox application. It's not my account, it's a shared link.  I currently am on basic so I don't have enough space to transfer to my dropbox account.

It's a video file, when I click on download it says the zip file is too large. When I click on the file to preview, and click on download, I can click on direct download and it starts downloading.  The download takes an hour and goes to the end but it always says the download has failed.  If it fails during download I'll be stuck with a .part file and empty video file.  If it finishes saying the download has failed, the file size doesn't match and can't play.

Sorry to jump in here, but have you considered asking the owner of the file to zip or compress it somehow to drop its size before sharing a link to it with you @ab37?

No, I haven't asked. The owner may not be open to being flexible, but that is a possible thing to suggest.

Hey @ab37, that would be a good idea to suggest!

Have you also tried the  "Save to my Dropbox" option?

Don't hesitate to get back to us if anything comes up.

I haven't tried "Save to my Dropbox" because I only have a basic account capped at 7gb.

Need more support?
