We have several Excel files with formulas that link to other Excel files all saved in a shared folder on dropbox. When using Dropbox, is there a way to create the same file directory between a window machine and a mac machine. If dropbox is stored in two windows machines under C: drive it will work but since mac has no C: drive it wont work? How do we make it so all users using mac or windows can use the spreadsheets and the linked spreadsheets will work.
Hi, @rikibullivey ,
This sounds more like a technical question regarding how Excel handles the link, rather than how Dropbox handles it. Done some research and found this official support document from Microsoft that may help.
Description of link management and storage in Excel
In short, things may work if the parent and linked files are within the same folder, and it is more likely not working if they are not, since Excel will be using absolute file path instead of relative.
