The new client (v100.4.109) on Linux (Ubuntu 20.04) does not show recently updated files in the dropdown menu in the system tray. I have rebooted my machine and stopped and restarted Dropbox through the GUI, and this persists after these have happened.
Is this a bug or a problem with the installation of the new client?
Hey there @Graeme T.1, thanks for checking in with us.
I'd be happy to have a better look into this with you, I'll just need a bit more info. For example:
Any additional info and screenshots (without any personal details) would be very helpful. Thanks!
This is exactly like my problem, see my post, thanks I was not alone!
I upload files to Dropbox from this computer, running Ubuntu 20.04.
It is the latest version of the client v100.4.109, and I'm on the 2TB paid tier.
As far as I am aware, there is no Smart Sync for the Linux client, so I don't use it on this machine.
You are absolutely right about Smart Sync, apologies for the confusion, I just wanted to make sure that we have everything completely covered on the matter.
Could you let me know a little more info on the desktop environment that you are using and if it meets the minimum requirements?
I look forward to hearing back from you!
I'm also experiencing the same issue. The Dropbox tray icon / menu was working perfectly fine until yesterday when I noticed that the Dropbox app update automatically (there was a tooltip message "updating..." or something similar). I'm using Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia (cinnamon) and the Dropbox app is the latest one 100.4.409.
The Snooze Notifications submenu works fine but the Recently Changed Files fails to produce any image (though once it draw a transparent square). Could this issue be a race condition like this previous bug (which also affected me): https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-installs-integrations/dropbox-2018-11-08-amd64-deb-doesn-t-p... ?
Cannot give anything else to this issue other than the dropdown menu don't show recently modified files, it shows the menubar 'Recently updated files' (in my language) but the files isn't listed anymore.
I'm running a stock Ubuntu 18.04 system with Xubuntu (XFCE), I have also tried with Ubuntu with its Gnome-environment, thus it really falls within the system requirements. It has always worked before. Have had Dropbox for more than 8 years.
This occured after the last update to 100.4.409.
same problem here on Linux Mint 19.3 (Dropbox 100.4.409) and also on my laptop Peppermint 10 (Ubuntu).
Thanks for your reports on this, everyone!
Since I don't currently have any info about this, I'll check with the team and get back to you as soon as possible.
In the meantime, if you have any updates, don't hesitate to let me know. Thanks again!
I also have this problem. With Dropbox v100.4.409 on all my Ubuntu 18 machines, the "recently changed files" menu option has stopped working a couple of days ago. I've changed lots of files, but it doesn't show anything. I find this feature absolutely necessary for checking that syncing worked correctly.
