It seems dropbox has gone through and update. We produce magazines and we are working on folders within dropbox, when a folder is downloaded to desktop a star is placed against it. This was a very handy tool, since the update the ability to place these stars has gone. There is a facility to add them at the side under the three dots, but it doesn't seem to work? Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
Hi @gazza12, thanks for messaging the Community!
Are you adding the star manually to the folder you download to your machine? Are you seeing the star in the Dropbox folder, the desktop app, or the website, just to be certain?
Could you upload a screenshot to your Dropbox account, share a link to it, and paste the URL here so I can assist further? Thanks!

@gazza12 What we found (and confirmed through other comment threads here) was that an update happened and the stars are no longer visible anywhere else but the home page. So if the option to star a file is selected in the 3 dots, no star actually shows up beside the file folder or file name on that same page. The only way to confirm it is starred is to select the 3 dots again and see that the option has changed to read "Unstar". Not sure if that's helpful but if you're not seeing a star showing that was what we found it to be. It doesn't seem to matter the brower settings or which browser is used.
