Re: Lost files & upgrade

Lost files & upgrade

Hello Dear All

I lost a large part of my files 1 or 2 years ago because I didn’t pay extra for upgrading my free Dropbox version
I managed to download these files into my Dropbox although there wasn’t enough storage. I could open them a couple of weeks despite the lack of storage. But after that, the files disappeared and there are only the folders which contain these files
I’d like to recover these files. Is it still possible?
It’s very difficult to contact support to fix this problem. A USB drive seems a safer environment than Dropbox cloud

Hi @Amarou57

It sounds like they were on your local computer and not Dropbox. They wont have uploaded in to Dropbox if you were over quota, so, no, I'm afraid they are not recoverable from here - and even if they were you can only rollback 180 days with a paid account if its in place at the time of deletion. It isnt retroactive.

Dropbox is perfectly safe and secure - if used correctly (i.e. under quota etc.).
