Missing files after selecting backup

Explorer | Level 3

I downoaded dropbox on my mac, wrongly selected backup of my desktop and documents folders, ran out of memory from dropbox, and now i am missing a bunch of files (excel documents at least).  probably missing way more documents i just dont know what im even missing yet.

many similar complaints on the forum, so as recommended I canceled backup successfully, and selected "restore deleted files", but i still cant find all these files on my computer at all in any folder and using all types of finder searches.

Dropboxer

Hi @timclimber1, thanks for providing these details!

Generally, when you disable the computer backup, you can move the folders and files back to their previous locations, which will also delete them from the Dropbox account online.

If the missing files weren’t syncing to your account, then it wouldn’t be possible to recover them from the site. However, it might be possible to recover the files from the local machine from the recycle bin, or using a third party app or service to do so.

If you need any more details, feel free to message back!
