Hello and HELP! I have three dropbox accounts. One for me, my husband and daughter and we are on the same computer most of the time. For some reason my entire DESKTOP went into dropbox and it not only caused us to not have enough room but removed everything off my desktop. If I try to take it out of Dropbox it seems to make all my folders disappear. How can I safely take out the DESKTOP from Dropbox and put it back on my desktop with all the folders and files still there. I have been reading and everything I try doesn't seem to work. I might move something back to my desktop and when I go into the file, let's say 'school' it says the file can't be found. I don't want to leave the desktop in Dropbox because I don't need it there but now I am afraid to move anything for fear of losing the files and folders. What do I do???
Hi @elhelf, thanks for joining the Community!
I'm sorry to hear about this. It sounds like you enabled the automatic computer backup feature in the Dropbox desktop application.
Could you first try disabling the computer backup from Dropbox using the steps in the above article to see if this helps?
Afterwards you should be able to move the files and folders back to their old locations.
Let me know how it goes!

Thank you for that advice. I did disable the back up but it is still doing strange things. I would just like to start all over with Dropbox at this point. However, if I remove files out of Dropbox it still removes it from my computer. I am very confused....
Assuming the computer backup is disable, could you try moving the files from the Dropbox folder to another location on your machine?
This will keep those files on the computer, but also delete them from the Dropbox site.
Keep me posted!
