What does the desktop app's sync status show on that device @brad1136?
Also, what version of the app do you have installed? You can hover over the Dropbox icon in your system tray/menu bar to see this.

Daphne - apparently it took a long time but now - magically? - the selective sync on my old laptop has now worked. I appreciate your offers to help!!!
