I haven’t used dropbox in a while, opened it to clean it out so that I can start using again and all of my files are empty. Does anyone have any insight into why this would happen? Also, is there a way to retrieve all of the missing information? It was all photos.

Hi Walter,
Thank you for your response. I'm embarrassed to say I was just logging in with the wrong email. So, problem solved.

I am having the same problem.
I have not logged in in a long time because I only use dropbox for a certain project once a year, and I have the files downloaded on my computer anyway. When I logged in today (using Firefox) my account was empty--no folders, no nothing, with messaging as if it were a completely new account.
I tried logging in with a different browser (Microsoft Edge). Same problem. No files. Empty account.
Hi there @kefoster; thanks for joining our Community and sorry to hear about this.
I'm not sure if that's the case, but could it be that your account was closed due to inactivity?
When is the last time you remember seeing your files or folders on our website?

I need an answer to this question and it's not that I'm using the wrong email address, as this user stated.
In that case, it may be that your account was closed due to inactivity @tierneym.
How long has it been since you last accessed it and/or remember seeing your files on our website?

I don't really use dropbox at all but 2 years ago, my aunt shared our travel photos with me on dropbox. So now she's trying to find hers and I can't find mine either.

If your account was idle for more than a year, then it was likely deleted due to inactivity.
