My files aren't syncing from one device to another, any ideas?

I use 2 laptops. When I save documents from one to Dropbox, I later can't find them using the other computer. Any ideas how to fix this?

Is Dropbox running on both machines?

If so what does it say if you mouse over its icon on the status bar?
