I am going to have to scrap using Dropbox because it has stopped working. My desktop has been indexing about 165 files for weeks. When it is indexing, the computer bogs down to the point that I cannot use it, so I have to shut down syncing to even use the computer. That means that my files do not sync and Dropbox is becoming completely useless. this has been going one for about 3 weeks.
You essentially have NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. I pay to use dropbox, but it doesn't work and you provide NO HELP.
I read a long thread where the moderators offered no help at all to anyone. So, help me, or I will reluctantly have to stop using Dropbox.
Information - I just reinstalled Dropbox - still indexing. It's a Windows 10 computer if that matters. Latest version of Dropbox. All widows updates installed.
Can you help me or do I just start looking for alternatives?
Hey @dmille3098, thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear about your frustration.
Since you've already tried reinstalling the desktop app - great work by the way! - could you also try the steps I mention in this post to see if they help?
Give me a nudge with any updates, cheers!

When I go to the dropbox icon on my system tray, it calls up a box. There are three options. "For you." "Recent." And "Notifications." You asked me to click the gear in the notifications box. THERE IS NONE. I tried right clicking and left clicking. Nothing happens. I had to stop syncing while it was happening, of course, because the whole computer basically locks up while syncing is taking place. Now, instead of indexing, it is syncing 15 files.
Basically, Dropbox has left me with a useless computer. I will have to seek other options. It has been so useful, but I don't want to buy another computer because Dropbox won't work.
I had one question. I noticed somewhere - don't ask me where - as I was working through stuff that Dropbox kept coming up as Dropbox (32 bit). My computer is, I'm pretty sure, 64 bit. Would that make a difference?
I am at the point of just using Google or other options - because Dropbox won't work on my primary computer.
Never mind. I found it - not where you said. But I found preferences and such. Fix Hardlinks did absolutely nothing. Click and nothing. Fix permissions brought up a box and then about 30 seconds later, said permissions had been fixed.
Computer is still slow. I may try to restore the whole thing to factory. Thanks, Dropbox for screwing up a functioning computer and costing me a day or two of work!
