My quota has been taken up by a shared folder, why?

New member | Level 2

We have access to a group shared folder created by Community Foundations Canada.  I have been using the files via a Dropbox Icon on my desktop.   Suddenly I am being told that MY dropbox is full.   I have only uploaded about 2MB of info, the rest is supplied by CFC.

I am a poor non profit that cannot afford $1200+ fees. I just want to access the files.

how can i accomplish this?   Is there anyone in the Dropbox community that I can speak to personally? I hate chat boxes.

Re: Storage

Dropboxer

Hi @MCF_Angie, thanks for posting on the Community!

I'm sorry to hear about this. As you've discovered, shared folders take up quota on all active members' accounts, which is why your account is overquota when you added the folder. You can remove the folder from your account using these steps.

Currently, only Dropbox Business plans allow a shared quota pool between its team members. Additionally, we only provide incoming phone support for team admins of Dropbox Business subscriptions.

If you need to download and view files in the folder, you could ask the owner of the folder to create a shared link to the folder so you can view it on the site directly.

Hope this helps to clarify matters!
