No Smart Sync options when right-clicking on files in the Dropbox folder on my Mac

No Smart Sync options when right-clicking on files in the Dropbox folder on my Mac

Hi,

I had first tested the Professional plan, and it worked great - including Smart Sync. But I decided to go with a Plus account, since I didn't need more.

As soon as I "downgraded", the SmartSync feature stopped working.

When I right-click on the Dropbox folders and files now, I only get the standard Apple menu items (move to bin, get info, etc.)- nothing from Dropbox including Smart Sync/online only/etc.

I'm running 11.6.6 Big Sur

Currently no sync issues as seen from the dropdown from the icon in menu bar.

Hope you can help. 🙂

Thanks for keeping me in the loop here!

I'm glad to see the issue resolved itself.

Indeed, if both the sync icons and the context menu items were missing, the app might not have been running correctly.

But I'm happy that now all is well and if you need anything else, don't hesitate to let us know.

Have a great weekend!

Hey @jackalopejackson, welcome to our Community and thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Are you missing only the options to switch your files to available offline/online-only, when you're right clicking on them?

Or are the rest of the Dropbox options, like 'copy/create link' etc, missing as well?

Can you also check the sync status of the app? You can see that by hovering over the Dropbox icon in your menu bar with your mouse.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Hannah,

Thanks for replying so quickly.

I was missing all the options - but today they are back!

It was strange, because it did not show any problems with syncing yesterday, but it was like it was completely offline. The little green checkmarks (or gray clouds) were also missing - and they are all back again today.

So .... whatever happened has fixed itself! Thanks. 🙂

Hi Hannah,

I have the same issue but the option to smart sync has not come back having rebooted.  I still see the options to share, make a copy, make on-line only etc when I right click, but the smart sync option has gone.  Any ideas?  Thanks

Hey @Simon W.17, the "make online-only" option is actually the option you're looking for!

This will allow you to make a file online-only, so it doesn't take up space on your hard drive.

I hope this helps!
