Not beeing able to stop syncing or deleting folder

Not beeing able to stop syncing or deleting folder

Petterbaba

I missclicked what folder to sync when i re-installed dropbox on my computer.

The folder is too big for what storage I've got available, and because of that i can't delete it, and I can't make it stop syncing.

Please help, I'm currently only using dropbox for school and can't back it up anywhere atm.

Hi @Petterbaba, I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with this!

Are you possibly referring to enabling the computer backup feature, to sync the Desktop, Downloads or Documents folders from your computer?

Or did you select a folder via selective sync to sync to your computer that is too large for the space on your computer?

Let me know and we can go from there!

That sounds about right!

Desktop, downlaoad and documents - I did not select any other folders.

Space on my computer isn't the issue, rather that I'm using the free version of dropbox, hence I only got 2 GB of storage.

Thanks!

Thanks for getting back to me here @Petterbaba!

You'll need to follow the steps outlined at the bottom of this article to disable the backup.

In step 6, just make sure to choose to keep the files on your computer, rather than in Dropbox.

This will remove the files automatically from your Dropbox account, while keeping them safe in the folders on your computer.

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks, I think we're halfway there!

Step 7 (stop backup) didn't appear, so i deleted the content, but now the downloads folder are still backing up in dropbox.

Can you try moving the files within the Downloads folder to another location on your computer @Petterbaba?

If you right click the Downloads folder, choose properties, and go to the Location tab, does the folder path show Dropbox in there?
