Re: Not seeing all my files

Not seeing all my files

Hi! I just recently started a new job and they store all their photos on Dropbox. I use the SAME user id and password as my boss, but when I log in dropbox on the computer OR the desktop, I cannot see the same files that she sees when she logs in from her computer.  If I log in to my computer with the previous employees credentials, I can see the folders/files. It's the same computer... just a different USER. Can someone please help?

Are you certain that you're logging in with the same email address as your employer?

If the computer isn't a work computer, then you can delete it from the devices page for security purposes.

Hi @jyohman, thanks for joining the Community!

Are you logging onto the Dropbox site, or using the Dropbox desktop application to view the files?

Are you sharing credentials for the same Dropbox account, or are you using shared folders?

This will help me to assist further!

Hi Jay,

I've tried logging in both ways and only see about 19 files. However, my employer and the former employees credentials allow me to see all the files on both the desktop and online. My employer was viewing on her phone app.

In general, we don't recommend using other people's credentials for security and privacy purposes, and also because it's against the terms of service.

Could you ask them to share the folder to your personal account so that they can then move files there to share with you?

Hi Jay,

I'm trying not to use the other employees credentials. She no longer works here... I am her replacement. But, that is literally the only way I can view the files right now. The issue is that when I log in with the company credentials I am not able to see the same files on my computer that my employer can see on hers USING THE SAME LOGIN. Is there a setting I'm missing or something like that?

Also, I see when I go in the settings that it is showing that the former employee computer is linked to the account. Is that part of the problem? I am using the same computer, but under a different user account.

Thank you... we tried a different set of credentials and it worked. I feel a bit silly! But, thanks again!
