Offline Dropbox files taking up physical space again.

Offline Dropbox files taking up physical space again.

New member | Level 2

Hello, I'm having a recurrence of a problem. My offline files were taking up space on my Mac's hardrive (well, I think my Mac thought they were anyway), so I followed the advice here, and the problem was resolved. But since installing BigSur the problem has come back. Now my hardrive is almost at full capacity, but all my files are offline with SmartSync. I've tried going through the same process again, but the files still show up as taking up space. Can anyone help me to resolve this please? Do I need to uninstall and reinstall dropbox? If so, what is the most reliable process for doing so? i.e. one that won't leave anything behind and cause a recurrence of the same problem.

Thank you!

Hey there @FPMalcolm; welcome to our Community and happy Friday!

If your app is up to date in your menu bar, could you check if the space is being taken up by your cache folder?

Thanks!

Thanks for your help Walter, this has cleared the issue. I'm not sure why 40gb of files ended up being resynced, and hence moving to the cache, but it's fixed now!

Thanks!
