Only folders and sub folders but files are gone

Only folders and sub folders but files are gone

Hi,

I copied a big shared folder with many subfolders to my personal Dropbox Space. It took a while and I got the message that it was finished, but now, months later, I can see the whole folder structure but with no files within the folders. What happened? Are the files still somewhere? Or did I only copy the empty folders somehow? If I go to the web version of Dropbox I can't see the files either.

Please help me out,

Thank you!

Hi @Hickmann, thanks for joining the Community!

If the folders appear, then it sounds like only the file structure was copied, and not the files themselves.

Was this information in a shared folder, or via a shared link to a folder?

You can check if the files were deleted and can be recovered from here, or if they were added to your account on the events page?

Keep me posted!

Hey @ChrisBoxDrop, I'd be more than happy to help.

Did you use the website to upload the files, or the Dropbox desktop application?

Can you look into the Deleted Files and Events pages?

Do you see the files there?

Let me know what you find.
