Opening a file vs Viewing a file

Opening a file vs Viewing a file

Explorer | Level 4

When Dropbox records these actions, are they referring to the same thing? For example, when I click on home while on my accounts page I am able to see every file I have opened, added, restored or deleted, but not viewed. So when it records whenever I have opened a file, does it also imply that I viewed it?

Re: Opening a file vs Viewing a file

Dropboxer

Hello there @Henry1001, I hope you had a good weekend!

Are you usually viewing/opening your files via the website? Or do you access your files from another location, eg. the mobile app?

When you preview a file in your account via the website, it does record this as the file being viewed in the file's activity log.

Just to clarify too, when you refer to opening the file, are you referring to opening the file in a third party app where you would edit the file?

Let me know - thanks!
