Photos show up as grey triangles and circle

When I try to look at a certain files photos, it just just shows up with a weird stock image of a white back ground with two grey triangles and a grey circle above it. What does this mean?

While we re at it, can you clarify if you're on a desktop device or a mobile one? 

Can you view those files normally on your machine after downloading them from our website?

No, they still look like those symbols

Just to make sure that we're on the same page, are you able to open the photos by tapping on them (on the mobile app) or click on them (on the website)?

No matter whether its on my mobile app or on the website.
The pictures still appear in those grey triangles
