Problem with a recovered Dropbox local folder

New member | Level 2
New member | Level 2

HI,

I had my local DBX folder on an external USB drive (yes, I know that isn't a perfect solutions ...) and this drive failed. So, I recovered the wole folder, but I'm not sure if it contains all the files backed up on DBX server.

What is the procedure to be sure that the restored local folder will synced with all the files stored on DBX server (that now have the most updated situation)?

Tx

Hi @ghostmac1969

How did you restore the folder?

If its from a backup then when you reconnect it to Dropbox it should reindex the folder (which WILL TAKE ages, and you may get lots of odd leaving and joining shared folder messages - dont panic!). Once it reindex's it should then resync changes down to the device.

Hey there @ghostmac1969,

In general, if you want to check out more info on changes that occurred to content in your Dropbox account, you can check out your events page

If you're still having some trouble with this though or you'd like to have a more in-depth look into the matter, due to account-specific info required, you can always contact our Support team directly via email

Hope this helps to some extent!
