Re: Folder structure best practice

Well, you posed the question, "Should I deploy Shared Folders or Team Folders to manage content?"

I am afraid that's where you lost me.

I have lots of folders in my drop box but where does deploying them fit in? What is deploying them involve and why would I want to do that. In what way does the content need managing and what would that achieve? I'd just like to leave it there for future referrence really so I can access it and send it out if necessary. What else can I do with it?

Perhaps there is a drop box for idiots book which I should buy?

cheers

Hey @Asteroid2020, apologies for the delayed reply here!

Dropbox Business teams have a slightly different structure than a personal Dropbox account would have.

While personal accounts would only be able to use shared folders, Business teams can use shared folders and/or team folders.

'Deploying' the folders in this sense is in reference to setting up a folder structure for shared files.

I can suggest checking out some more info on team folders here, and shared folders here.

If you're interested, you can find out more about using Dropbox from here. You can also check out our "Help from Community" area here.

Hope this helps!

Dropbox use

Sorry, you lost me on the first paragraph.

What I need to know is how do I tell my Mac "Finder" to share certain folders with a drop box folder then make it available to specific people who are not on my network but I have their email address?

Hi there @Asteroid2020, thanks for getting back to us.

To be able to share folders with other users via your Dropbox account, you'll have to add them to the Dropbox folder.

You can find the relevant steps to doing this, here

Let us know if this helps, cheers!
