Hello @UrbanDesign - welcome to the Community!

If you don't mind me asking, what type of account/plan are you on at the moment?

View notifications are sent to users who have shared content with Can View or Can Edit permission while the user who has originally shared the content will receive a notification on mobile, desktop, and web when the recipient views the content as a result of the share.

The notification will include the recipient’s name and a timestamp of when they opened the content. Clicking the notification will bring take you to either the folder or the file preview page, depending on the type of content shared. Notifications are sent once per user, meaning that if the same user opens a shared file or folder multiple times you will only be notified the first time they access the shared content.

This does not work for files or folders shared via ‘Create a link’, only for content that has been shared with ‘Can View’ or ‘Can Edit’ permissions.

Currently view notifications are only sent when the sharer of content is on one of the following plan types:

  • Dropbox Business Advanced
  • Dropbox Business Enterprise
  • Dropbox Business Education
  • Dropbox Professional

Viewer info must be enabled in order to receive the notifications, for more information on how to enable Viewer info for your account you can see the following Help Center article:

https://www.dropbox.com/help/files-folders/viewer-information

I hope this helps and please keep me posted!
