The dropbox app used to show a list of recently modified files, but it no longer does. All I get under "Recent" is a long list of files that have been viewed, grouped by "Last 7 days," "Last 30 days," and "Older." A list of files I have viewed and when I viewed them has no practical use. I would like this list to include modified files as it did in the past, when I would get a list of files and a notation like "Edited 3 minutes ago."
Hey there @Robert778, thanks for checking in with us!
Just to make sure, are you not able to see a mention of files that you recently edited in your Recents tab?
If so, could you click on your Dropbox icon and send me a screenshot (without any personal info) of what you see?
Keep me posted!
There are literally dozens of files that have been modified in the last couple of months, but all I can see in the desktop app are files that I have viewed.
No modified files list, but when you look on the Dropbox Web site:
Sometimes the latest edit is visible for a few minutes, but then it disappears. Sometimes I have the Dropbox "Recent" tab open and see the edited item disappear from the list while I'm looking at it.
For example, here's my Dropbox screen at 11:21 am when the file was just edited and uploaded by Dropbox, showing "Edited now":
My Dropbox at 11:24 am still showing the edited file as "Edited 3 minutes ago":
My Dropbox at 11:26 am and the edited file is gone like it never happened:
Thanks for keeping me in the loop and for the screenshots, @Robert778!
To make sure that we cover most initial ground in terms of troubleshooting, could you give a simple reinstall a try? Maybe that will do the trick.
To do this:
Let me know of any updates!
I uninstalled Dropbox and reinstalled just now. This is my Dropbox currently:
Notice that the file edited yesterday at 11:21 am is not listed. The other files that were "viewed" rather than edited are still listed with the appropriate times.
I should probably add a note that this is a regression that started with the client update where Dropbox changed the way changes to files are detected (the change that broke delta syncing for Truecrypt containers).
Thanks for giving that a try for me, @Robert778.
I've followed up with a ticket to the email address connected with your Community profile so that we can have a better look into this together.
