I have a few computers linked to dropbox. I am receiving the following issue now with the current version of Firefox (windows 10 pro) when trying to open an excel file with the office online option (attempted on 3 separate win10 PCs).
Until now I have used firefox to access excel files via the web gui without any problems at all. I did try it in a private browsing tab and this didnt work. I also tried it with MS Edge which just got stuck repeating the loading messages. Google chrome is not a browser I want to have installed however it is the only browser that is now working.
I would appreciate some insight as to why dropbox is not working with firefox now. I have not changed anything or added new extension. Everything has been the same (aside from any standard updates etc)
Hi @Alan81; welcome to our Community!
I'll be glad to look into this for you so can we please first exclude any browser specific issues?
To do so can you please clear your browser's cache and try a private browsing window with no extensions or plugins running and let me know if you get the same results?
While we're at it, what kind of plan is your account on? Is it an individual account or a team one?
Let me know what you find and we'll take it from there Alan.
I'm seeing this too. On MacOS, with Safari and Firefox - both in private mode.
I suspect Dropbox's browser checking is either broken or too aggressive, since both Safari and Firefox will run Office for Web just fine.
@Walter: as a workaround Dropbox could be more friendly and allow me to continue anyway at my own risk, rather than send me off to download Chrome (which isn't going to happen.)
I'm also experiencing this problem, just started a few days ago. Bad timing with so many needing to work online now.
I cleared cache, turned off all add-ons/extensions, logged in with a private window. Still get the error message.
I'm on Win7, current Firefox.
When I open Word or Excel document on Dropbox I get a message saying that office is not supported on this web browser. My computer has Windows 10 OS and I use Mozilla Firefox Developer as well as Mozilla Firefox. A colleague of mine has the same issue while using macOS Mojave 10.14.6 and Mozilla Firefox. We both use Dropbox business accont.
I have already tried private browsing, restarting the browser with disabled extensions, and clearing cache & cookies - none of it worked.
I know there are other posts with the same question in this forum, but I have not seen any solution yet.
Hi All; thanks for your reports!
I would really like to look into this matter further so please let me know if you'd like me to reach out using the email addresses that are connected to your profiles here on our Community and we'll take it from there.
In the meantime, while we investigate, you can use another browser.
