Red number in dropbox icon (NO notifications)

Red number in dropbox icon (NO notifications)

I have had a 1 in a red circle on my Dropbox icon (MacOS Catalina, DB 107.4.443) for at least a week now. I have no Notifications (the notifications tab in the dropdown from that icon says "All quiet". I've tried restarting Dropbox, to no effect. What next?

Hi @Roger L.2, thanks for messaging today!

Could you try going to each of the three tabs on the Dropbox desktop application and clicking any notification there to see if this helps.

Any other info or screenshots would be helpful!

Screenshots of each of the tabs are included below. I don't see any notifications in any of them. But I did just notice that three files are marked as syncing (those named ratpts); in my Finder, those files appear up to date with a green checkmark.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop @Roger L.2; I appreciate the screenshots too!

If you have rebooted your computer and still see the red icon on the app in your menu bar/system tray, could you please try re-installing the app using the installer from this link?

This should do the trick, but let us know if it doesn't.

I rebooted to no effect, then installed the new version from the link you sent, all to no effect. Still the 1 in red dot.

FYI, the items that seemed inconsistent between the Recent tab and the Finder are now consistent; the Recent tab shows that those items are up to date. Still nothing in the Notifications tab.

Thanks for keeping me in the loop here @Roger L.2.

Could you toggle off all the notifications from the app's preferences, quit the app, relaunch it, and toggle on the notifications you'd like to receive via the desktop application again?

If you still see the red dot on the app's icon within your menu bar, your next step could be a clean, advanced re-install

Let us know how this goes!

Interesting, notifications for DB were already turned off in Preferences. Unless there's something else to try first, I'll try the advanced re-install later today.

I was referring to the app's preferences, not your computer's ones @Roger L.2; sorry for not clarifying this earlier.

Keep me posted anyhow!

The reinstall seems to have solved the problem, thanks!

I'm still seeing the odd behavior shown in the screenshot below. Note that a number of files report that they are syncing in the application dropdown, yet the Finder reports them as up to date (which I'm sure they are, having been changed about 18 hours ago).

Thanks for the update on this @Roger L.2.

Can you reboot your computer and let me know if you still notice this behavior when the app reports to be 'up to date'?
