Restore files - free account

Restore files - free account

Explorer | Level 3

Hi, I want to recover a specific folder state before august 10th. On August 16th some files were deleted (maybe my niece took my phone, I don't know...). The thing is I have a free account and it only allows me to roll back a month.

So, a few questions:

- is there any way to ask for someone in Dropbox to recover that for me? this would be incredible!

- if the answer is no... I'm willing to try and upgrade my account to a paid one (just for this:disappointed face:

-- will I be able to perform the recovery?

-- when I want to cancel my paid subscription and stop paying, my account will be back in the same space configuration that is now?

I appreciate any help!

Hi @benjaroa, thanks for messaging the Community!

I'm sorry to hear about this matter. If you're on a Dropbox Basic plan when this occurred, as it's been over 30 days since the deletion, then it wouldn't be possible to recover the files from the system.

Unfortunately, upgrading to a Dropbox Professional plan isn't retroactive, so it won't help in recovering files deleted over 30 days ago, as they would have already been permanently deleted by the server.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. However, as the files aren't recoverable by Dropbox, it might be possible to recover the files from the local machine from the recycle bin, or using a third party app or service to do so.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi Jay, thanks a lot for your kind answer.

Even if the news isn't that great, it's better to know. Sadly I didn't have that folder in my local machine, that was my first option and it was off the table.

Is there a way to access the cache on an Android phone? Will google that!

Regards!
