Retrieving an old file sent to me three years ago

Retrieving an old file sent to me three years ago

Hello. I had a dropbox link sent to me containing a short video clip nearly three years ago. I felt sure I had saved the video on my computer somewhere, but can't find it. I didn't have a dropbox account at the time, but could view it. When I try to access via the original email now, the link, not surprisingly, doesn't open. Is there a way of retrieving the link/video or am I best off contacting the original sender? Thanks!

You need to contact the original sender. Dropbox cannot recover it for you.

I have the link that was sent to my email, and the person who sent it to me is no longer with us. Is there a way to revive this file? I did not have this Dropbox account at the time

Hey @harmonn1, how are you today?

Do you get any errors when trying to open the shared link?

If the file was deleted, the only person who could recover it is the person who deleted it. As long as the file is inside the time limit for recovery.

I hope this clarifies.
