Dropbox search can’t find anything. The files, however, are there. How can I make Dropbox find them or reindex them???

Solved. Miraculously the search tool is finding files again after going on an unexplained weeks-long holiday.

If anyone else experiences this problem, try waiting it out. 🤷‍:male_sign:

Hello @Mmmooo, I'd be more than happy to help look into this with you.

Could you just let me know if you're searching for files through the website, the desktop app, or the mobile app?

Give me a nudge whenever you have the chance to check this out, cheers!

Desktop app and mobile iPhone app can’t find a single file. (The mobile app, which I had been using exclusively, used to find everything.) I can, however, find files using a simple Windows explorer search.

Are you running the latest versions of the mobile app and the desktop app?

Also, could you make sure that there there are no pending updates on your devices?

All programs up to date, rebooted, no pending updates.

Search is not working for me on my Mac with one file (codes.xls). The file is password protected but it has ALWAYS shown up in search. First, the file did not show up in search on my Mac, but the file is listed in its folder. I've gone to the folder. It is still there. I can open the folder. The file and data are intact. It has not been deleted, mistakenly or intentionally. But the file does not show up when I type the exact name, with or without the file extension, in the search box. I have screenshots. This seems inconceivable to me. It's a computer.  Thanks for any help. I have deleted and reinstalled the dropbox app on my Mac. Same result.

Welcome to the glitchy world of search!! Wait a week.
Maybe it’ll fix itself.

Hey @ksandbe, thanks for nudging us on this thread.

Could you make sure that you're running the latest version of the desktop app and that you don't have any pending OS updates?
