Selective sync not working.

Selective sync not working.

Explorer | Level 3

Hello. The selective synchronising feature where one chooses what folders dropbox is going to synchronize is not working for me. I open the system tray and access the "preferences" button. After this I unchech the folder that I dont want to be synchronized and I press "update" and use setting and "ok". However, nothing changes and the folder in question keeps synchronizing. Can you help me?

Hi @SEHJ; welcome to the Community!

Can you please let me know what the desktop app is reporting within your system tray/menu bar when performing this action and, if possible, send me a screenshot of how it looks like on your end so I can advise further?

Thanks!

The screenshots are attached (the text is in danish, sorry). I get no message when I do this. As soon as I click update and ok, the box is checked again. I do not want all of my downloads to be saved in dropbox. It takes up storage.

Thanks for the screenshots @SEHJ!

It sounds like you're trying to disable the syncing of the Downloads folder within the "My PC" folder, is that right?

From what you mentioned, the computer backup feature was enabled on your computer and set to sync the Downloads folder. This is why it can't be removed with selective sync.

You can disable this feature with the steps outlined towards the bottom of this article, and in step 8, choose to keep the files on your computer.

Let me know if this helps!
