Because you're not looking at the folder in his Dropbox. You're adding the folder to YOUR Dropbox.

In order to access ashared folder, you need to have enough space available in your account to accept the share. A shared folder exists in the account of each member of the share, and it takes up space in each member's account (the folder is in your account so it takes up space in your account).

Then you dont have enough space.... sorry.

Note that the wording on the error for shared folder acceptance is bad. If it says 'you need 500mb more space to accept this folder' that means 500mb more than you have free not 500mb available in your account.

I don't understand the answer you have given me. A person SHARED a Folder with men, and he gave me editing acces to it, but I cannot open it because it says MY DROP BOX needs more space.

Whyt do I need more space if I am looking into HIS Drop Box Folder?

-with Gratitude.

Thankyou.

I do not care to purchase more space on Drop Box. What alternative does my client have to send me footage using their Drop Box only, so I do not have to purchase more space?

Try to get more space by inviting your friends to join dropbox!

I just wanted to add that, as @katarzynap_ mentions, you can earn more space to increase your storage, but you can also ask them to send you a shared link to the folder in question. With shared links, although you’re not able to edit the content, you’re able to access it without taking up space on your account

I hope this helps to some extent. Let us know if you have any other questions!

I had the same issue and after reading the replies you got im sad to see how this works... instead of making things efficient dropbox duplicats files everywhere... I wanted access to someone elses folder but I do not want their files... its sad how fristrating this experience has been...

I hope you were able to find a solution.
