Heyho,
im new to dropbox. Havent seen answers about this so i thought i just ask here my questions.
I want to create a shared folder were friends of mine can upload stuff (Pictures and Movies). since there is just a 2 gb limit im thinking about to get the 2 tb upgrade.
so here is my question:
will it be possible for my friends to upload stuff in this "Shared folder"?
Does the limit (if i upgrade to 2tb) counts for everyone in this folder? Like when one friend is uploading like 8 gb does it takes the storage away from my account? Or will he need "more Storage" to upload bigger datas as well?
Thanks in advance
Hi
Your friends will only be able to upload into a shared folder up to the size of their account - your upgrade does not benefit them at all.
But, if its uploads only then you could just get them to send you things via Dropbox Requests: www.dropbox.com/requests

Hi @Towisted,
Your question is too general! In this context possible answers are both Yes and No. It depends on what exactly you mean "UPLOAD" in your post!
If you mean to send to your friend(s) file request link, the answer is YES. In such a case everything uploaded isn't shared and the "Shared folder" isn't shared actually. Uploaded content could be as much as your free space. If you want to share it, shared link could get used.
If you mean not upload, but share a folder in your account, the answer is NO. In such a case shared content size is count to the storage quota of share participant(s) and could lead to overquota! In this situation everybody access (including upload or download) his/her own account, not only your. The process here is not directly "upload" to your account, but sync accounts! 👆 Seems you mess both things - syncing and uploading!
Hope this clarifies matter.
