Sharing Files & Folders By Unique Login

New member | Level 2
New member | Level 2

Is there a way to setup a shared folder so that I can have a generic login for that folder so that multiple people can have access to view and download only the contents? For example, a folder with 50 high resolution images that people need access to copy, but not alter. And having a login not associated with an email addres, just a generic login, for example GETIMAGES?

Also, is it possible to share a file or folder by a unique URL?

Hello @MyKawaii - welcome to the Dropbox Community!

Based on your description, I'd say that shared links is what you're looking for. Could you take a look at the following Help Center article and let me know if they do the trick for you?

Thanks!

Thanks, Walter, for your quick response. I really appreciate it.

So, I took a look at the link you supplied. It looks like I can get a link to the folder and share this with anyone and they should have access and not have to enter a username or password for access, correct? Since I just have the free plan, many options are greyed out so that I cannot generate the link. So, to get these options, I need to upgrade to a professional plan?

In regards to your first inquiry, yes, you're correct @MyKawaii.

When it comes to your second question, could you clarify to which options you're referring so I can provide you with the most accurate information?

If you're referring to advanced settings for shared links like password protecting them, adding expiry dates and/or disabling downloads - they're indeed offered to our Professional and Business plans - not the free, Basic one.

I hope this information helps!

Hi Walter . . .

I figured it out and was able to generate the link to a specific folder. While the link is a little cryptic, this should work.

Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it. Make a great day!
