Sharing from Personal to Business Team Dropbox

New member | Level 2
New member | Level 2

I have been using a personal dropbox to store and save all images to do with work. Work has now set up a new Business Dropbox and invited me at a seperate email address to join. this I have done.

1) How do I share a large  majority of the files and folders  from my personal dropbox to the business dropbox in a way that if I later delete them ALL from my personal Dropbox then they would remain in the Business team account with all edit priveledges and ownership etc etc.?

I would like clarification that once it is in the Business Team Dropbox it wont matter what I do with it in my personal.

2) I tried to make the Admin the owner of the file / folder while it is still in my personal but then I cannot share it. If I make my business avatar l the "owner before i share it from my personal to the business. does that solve it?

Basically I need the steps in dealing with moving important files out of my Personal then into to a team business account  but I am not the Admin just a team member who currently has alll the files and needs the Admin to be the owner etc etc.

I then need to delete them from my personal Account.

Sorely confused. Thank you in advance.

Also why can I not access chat?

Hey there @Artisanne2, sorry to hear about any confusion this process might have caused. I'll try to help!

If you'd like to transfer your files from one Dropbox account to another, the easiest way would be to share a folder between your accounts. Add the files you'd like to transfer to this folder and they will automatically sync with your other account.

We've outlined the specific steps for you here:

https://www.dropbox.com/help/files-folders/move-files-between-accounts

In addition, you can remove access to a shared folder by following the steps on this Help Center article: https://www.dropbox.com/help/files-folders/leave-shared-folder

Note: If you're the owner of this shared folder, you'll need to transfer ownership to another member before removing the folder to then delete it from your personal account safely, without impacting the other members. For more information on transferring ownership of a shared folder, please see https://www.dropbox.com/help/files-folders/change-shared-folder-owner

Last but not least, depending on your current plan, you may be eligible for email or chat support (admins on the Advanced and the Enterprise plans are able to call in as well) and you should be able to see your options on this page: https://www.dropbox.com/support

Let me know how this goes and we'll take it from there. Thanks!
