Smart Sync - Online-only is Downloading Locally

Every time I add a new file to a folder on my computer, Dropbox begins downloading files in that folder that I had already listed as online only. It's very annoying. I do not want those files downloaded each time. Any suggestions?  I don't want to make a new folder each time I add a new file.

Hey there @gfoutdoors  - how are you today?

From what I gather, you seem to be having an issue with Smart Sync and your new files being 'Local' instead of 'Online Only' - correct me if I'm wrong please.

To begin with, can you let me know if you've chosen 'Online Only' through the desktop app's preferences as the default setting for your newly added content as outlined in this Help Center article?

If you did and you're still noticing this, could you provide some additional information pertaining to your current setup and the exact steps you take that result in this behavior?

I have make new files local chosen in preferences.  So as soon as I place the new file in the folder it begins downloading all the older content within the same folder.

That sounds expected @gfoutdoors - in this case you need to choose the 'Online Only' option.

Let me know if I'm missing something obvious here please.

Sorry.  Been out of town.  Yes.  I have online only chosen.  But as soon as I went to put a new file in a folder, Dropbox started downloading content in folders I wasn't even using.  I had to keep hitting cancel on about 25 files.
